As many of you have probably seen, Stylist has launched a new campaign to ‘Reclaim Your Lunch Break’ and we want to get on board. Like most people across the city, more often than not we find ourselves eating a salad at our desks whilst simultaneously answering emails and checking the ‘sidebar of shame’ (talk about multi-tasking). So, in light of their new campaign and our aim to be markedly more productive during the working day, we have shortlisted the top five activities that we’ll be adopting in our new found snippet of free-time.

Get creative with lunch

It’s time to put down the meal deal and get creative with lunch. On Bermondsey Street we’re lucky enough to be sandwiched between some brilliant food markets and also have a kitchen in our office. So, we want to get out and about and pick up some of the fantastic food produce available on our doorstep to cook and eat together. (See our recent Middle Eastern feast).

See an exhibition

As well as being in the midst of a food mecca we have some pretty fantastic galleries and museums within walking distance – including The White Cube and The Fashion and Textiles Museum, which both have some exciting exhibitions coming up this year.

Start a book club

Dr Suess said, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

So, we’re starting a monthly book club and encouraging less screen-time and more page-time.

Exercise

We’re keen to get active in our reclaimed hour. Whether it’s going for a riverside walk, harnessing our inner yogi or getting competitive at our local tennis courts, we want to get up from our desks and start moving.

Get involved in the community

Finally, as well as all of our self-improvement activities, we’d like to give something back to the community. We’re looking into ways to help at the local soup kitchen as well as in the schools in the area.

So, when the clock strikes 1, get up from your desk and do something for an hour. That’s 5 extra hours a week. 250(ish) extra hours in a year. Think of all of the things you can do in that time.
